Groupe TEYLIOM wishes to react firmly to the incomplete and tendentious information published by certain press organs on December 17, 2024, aimed at tarnishing the image of Groupe Teyliom as well as that of its management.

Through this press release, Groupe TEYLIOM wishes to clarify the facts in question in order to clarify the situation for national and international public opinion. The following points are worth recalling:

  • The arbitrary destruction of the Hotel Noom Cotonou;
  • The initiation of arbitration proceedings at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) between Groupe Teyliom and the Republic of Benin (the “ICSID Arbitration”);
  • Measures taken by the Benin authorities subsequent to the initiation of the ICSID Arbitration.

It is important to note that Messrs SOW and THIAM were never notified of the judgment of November 23, 2021. Consequently, the time limits for opposition or appeal have not begun to run. As the decision does not have the force of judicata, it is not enforceable.

Furthermore, Sirs SOW and THIAM are still unable to appreciate or comment on the factual and legal elements on which the Correctional Chamber of the Republic of BENIN would have based its decision, having never been informed of the charges or the investigation file.

The TEYLIOM Group intends to assert its legitimate rights in full, as it has always done, and reserves the right to take all necessary measures to defend its image, reputation and that of its managers.

It wishes to reiterate its commitment to the development of the region in view of the scale of its investments and reserves the right to take action against any unjustified allegations that could damage the image of a group and its committed, serious and respected managers.
